Melissa is currently a Meteorologist for 6abc. She joined the Action News team in 2009 and is currently the weekend evening Meteorologist for Action News at 5pm, 6pm, 10pm and 11pm. In addition to her weather role, Melissa is a reporter and host of “FYI Philly,” - - a weekly entertainment and lifestyle program that features fun things to do within the Tri-State area of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. Melissa also hosts a variety of specials, including the Philadelphia Auto Show, The Philadelphia Flower Show and the Black History Month celebration.
Prior to her joining WPVI-TV, Melissa worked for WNYW in New York; AccuWeather in State College, where she transitioned from news anchor/general assignment reporter to meteorology; KBAK-TV in Bakersfield, CA where she was a Weekend Anchor/Weather personality. Melissa started her career as a one-man band at KDUH-TV in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
Melissa is committed to making a distinctive and lasting impact on viewers one forecast and one report at a time. That enthusiasm exists outside of the world of television. Melissa continues to give back to the community in which she lives by coaching for the non-profit, “Girls on the Run.” It is an organization that helps unleash the confidence and self-esteem of young girls through running activities. Melissa also volunteers for Steppingstone Scholars - - a program dedicated to supporting the underserved students in the Philadelphia region achieve academic success.
Melissa is a graduate of UCLA, with a BA in English and a minor in French. While in college, Melissa studied abroad in Paris; and is fluent in French. Melissa completed Mississippi State University's atmospheric sciences and geosciences classes; and received her certificate in Broadcast Meteorology in 2010.
Melissa is a glass half-full kind of girl with a love for all things health & wellness. She is also a big time foodie who loves to sing, dance, and spend time with her friends and family.
